Artisans Bespoke Jewellers received the accolade at the gala event dinner held in Lightning Ridge along with $15,000 in prize money for ‘Khroma’, attended by more than 250 people from the jewellery and lapidarist trade.

The Australian Opal Awards celebrates jewellery designs and carvings from around the world and commemorates Australia’s national gemstone. The competition has been operating for over 20 years and this year saw 12 industry sponsors donating $35,000 of cash prizes across the 7 competition categories.

A Celebration of Australian Opals
At the heart of Khroma lies a captivating 3.45ct cabochon cut crystal opal, ethically sourced from Lightning Ridge in New South Wales. Known globally as the premier source of the world’s finest opals, Lightning Ridge opals are celebrated for their vibrant play of colour and exceptional rarity. The opal in Khroma is no exception, showcasing a mesmerising spectrum of hues that shift and dance with every movement.

Exquisite Design and Unparalleled Craftsmanship
Khroma is more than just a ring; it is a work of art. Crafted from 18ct Yellow and White Gold, the design features a high-polished yellow gold dome that enhances the opal’s natural beauty by allowing it to refract light and colour in every direction. Encircling the opal is an intricate Art Deco-inspired halo, meticulously set with a symphony of Sapphires, Spinels, Garnets, Zircons and Diamonds. This vibrant arrangement complements the opal and adds a three-dimensional layer of luxury to the piece.

The creation of Khroma was a labour of love, with over 80 hours dedicated to handcrafting and setting every detail. The ring contains over half a carat of natural white diamonds, adding to its bespoke design and opulent appeal.
